No More Leniency for Event Promoters After Takoradi Incident – Black Sherif’s Team Draws the Line

Black Sherif

After a chaotic scene at Takoradi’s Unifest concert left Black Sherif dodging bottles and sachet water on stage, the rapper’s management says enough is enough. His team has announced a tough new stance on local event organisers, ending what they describe as years of compromising professional standards in the name of goodwill.

The incident on June 21, 2025, ignited when Black Sherif’s performance was delayed due to a dispute with organisers. According to his Public Relations Officer, Kingsley, the late stage appearance was not the rapper’s fault, but that didn’t stop frustrated fans from turning hostile.

In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Joseph Jenry Mensah, Kingsley explained the behind-the-scenes tension and why the team is drawing a firm line going forward.

“We will not be merciful to anyone again in the name of you being a Ghanaian,” he said. “We have been lenient enough knowing that these are our people, but the more you bring the bar of professionalism down a little bit, that’s when they start misbehaving.”

He revealed that this wasn’t the first time local promoters have mishandled events and passed the blame onto the artiste, a recurring issue Black Sherif’s camp has endured in silence until now.

“So now we will uphold the standard of professionalism we operate with across the world, which would be the same standard we will uphold here in Ghana because our promoters here don’t learn. And this is not the first time this has happened to us or any other Ghanaian artiste,” Kingsley emphasized.

The team is also calling out a trend where organisers rely on public sympathy and social media narratives to deflect responsibility, leaving artistes to suffer backlash for situations they didn’t cause.

“It is, has become a behavioural pattern that people just operate anyhow and now after everything they would just swing the blame on the part of the artiste and the court of public opinion will now castigate their sanctions on the part of the artiste,” he concluded.
