Nana Acheampong Pays Tribute To Daddy Lumba With Emotional Song “Due! K. Fosu”

Due! K. Fosu: Nana Acheampong tribute song for Daddy Lumba

Highlife veteran Nana Acheampong has paid tribute to his lifelong friend and collaborator, Daddy Lumba, with an emotional song. The song, titled “Due! K. Fosu”, was released on Thursday, August 21, 2025, and captures the weight of losing a brother while honouring a towering musical legacy.

Acheampong channels his sorrow into the lyrics, even invoking the name of fellow musician Dada KD as he reflects on shared memories and decades of artistry with Lumba.

Before the release, Acheampong had foreshadowed the song with an emotional note to fans, writing:

“A tribute song to Daddy lumba drops on Thursday 21st August 2025. Due! K, Fosu😭😭 In the realm of Ghanaian music, few names shine as brightly as my brother. A trailblazer, an icon, a legend. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled. But as we mourn his departure, we also celebrate his life, his music, his enduring legacy. I pay my heartfelt tribute to Kojo Fosu with a soul-stirring song that captures the essence of our bond and the impact of his music on generations.💔 Join me as I remember Daddy Lumba’s contributions to Ghana’s rich musical heritage and honor his memory with this tribute song 🎶 #DaddyLumba #NanaAcheampong #GhanaianMusic #Tribute #RIP.”

Acheampong’s grief was equally evident when news of Daddy Lumba’s passing broke on July 26. He admitted how deeply shaken he was, saying:

“It has been difficult for me to accept this sad news. Menua Kojo Fosu, why this shock? Hmmm, you have indeed done what the creator brought you on earth to do; you will forever inspire generations.”
He continued:
“My family and I are in pain. To the family of my beloved brother, may God hold you tight in this moment.”

The two legends first united as the Lumba Brothers, a duo that reshaped Ghanaian highlife during the 1980s and 1990s. Their landmark 1989 album, Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu, still stands as one of the defining works of the genre and a testament to their unmatched musical bond.
