Nana Acheampong to Pay Tribute to Daddy Lumba with New Song, “Due K Fosu”

Nana Acheampong and Daddy Lumba

Highlife legend Nana Acheampong is set to release a moving tribute song in honor of his late friend and longtime collaborator, Daddy Lumba, who passed away on Saturday, July 26. The track, titled Due k Fosu, will be unveiled on Thursday, August 21, as Acheampong’s personal salute to a man he describes as both a “trailblazer” and a “brother.”

The veteran musician announced the tribute on Facebook, writing:
“A tribute song to Daddy lumba drops on Thursday 21st August 2025. Due! K, Fosu😭😭 In the realm of Ghanaian music, few names shine as brightly as my brother. A trailblazer, an icon, a legend. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled. But as we mourn his departure, we also celebrate his life, his music, his enduring legacy. I pay my heartfelt tribute to Kojo Fosu with a soul-stirring song that captures the essence of our bond and the impact of his music on generations.💔 Join me as I remember Daddy Lumba’s contributions to Ghana’s rich musical heritage and honor his memory with this tribute song 🎶 #DaddyLumba #NanaAcheampong #GhanaianMusic #Tribute #RIP.”

Acheampong’s grief has been evident since the news broke. Last month, he publicly expressed his shock and sorrow:
“It has been difficult for me to accept this sad news. Menua Kojo Fosu, why this shock? Hmmm, you have indeed done what the creator brought you on earth to do; you will forever inspire generations.”

The pain of loss, however, is matched by pride in the bond they shared. Together, Acheampong and Lumba created the legendary Lumba Brothers, a duo whose music reshaped the highlife genre during the 1980s and 1990s. Their 1989 project, Yɛɛyɛ Aka Akwantuo Mu, remains a landmark in Ghana’s musical heritage.

Reflecting on the moment, Acheampong extended his condolences:
“My family and I are in pain. To the family of my beloved brother, may God hold you tight in this moment.”
