I Get My Inspirations Randomly – Piesie Esther Reveals Her Creative Secret

Piesie Esther

Piesie Esther has stated that her songwriting emerges from moments she never plans for, describing her creative process as something guided rather than constructed.

The Ghanaian gospel singer disclosed this during an interview on Hitz FM, where she spoke about the surprising ways her lyrics come to her.

The ‘Waye Me Yie’ composer said that inspiration often arrives without warning, which is why she has never felt the need to lean on anyone else to write for her. According to her, the ability to create music is rooted in God’s grace.

“Every day, people are calling, recording and sending us lots of songs. I’m not singing them because I have enough. Anytime that I want to write a song, I’m able to do it by the grace of God. Nobody taught me how to write songs,” she stated.

Piesie Esther noted that she records ideas as soon as they drop into her mind, no matter the setting. “I get my inspirations randomly. I record bit by bit. There was one time I came up with a line in the bathroom, and I had to record it on my phone,” she stated.

She revealed that the familiar line “Tell me where will I be” was also born in the bathroom and captured immediately so she would not forget it. “‘Tell me where will I be’, I got this line of the lyrics from the bathroom. I remember when I got the words, I recorded it on my phone immediately. If my phone is not close to me, I would just call my husband to get the phone for me, so no matter where I am, my phone is always close to me,” she said.

The singer added that prayer shapes every part of her work. She described how she seeks God’s guidance before writing any song.

“One thing I thank God for is that I go before God for direction of lyrics before writing a song. God being so good, without knowing what to do, a word will just drop into my ears. Before I realise, I’ve gotten the whole lyrics,” Piesie Esther averred.
