“Kotoko and Hearts Can Never Be One” – Stonebwoy Speaks on Shatta Wale Rivalry

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy

Any hope that the long-running tension between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy might be cooling has been checked by fresh remarks from Stonebwoy, despite a recent public show of unity.

At the Ghana World Cup fundraising event, President John Dramani Mahama had nudged Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale into a symbolic embrace, a moment many took as a sign that the rivalry could finally be fading. But speaking at the 2026 World Cup fundraising launch at the Kempinski Hotel, Stonebwoy struck a different tone.

Rather than signal closure, he framed the relationship as one that thrives on competition, hinting that the back-and-forth is far from over.

Drawing on one of Ghana’s fiercest football rivalries, he likened their situation to Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, insisting that some divides are part of what keeps the energy alive.

“This is a very important call to all of us. You know that Kotoko and Hearts can never be one. They are two different teams that must continue to maintain that competitive energy to bring joy to the nation. If I say this, you know what I mean,” he stated.

Stonebwoy made it clear that his side has no plans to step away from that dynamic, positioning it as a necessary ingredient for excitement within the industry.

At the same time, he stressed the need for restraint, calling for boundaries that protect the spirit of the rivalry while avoiding excesses.

“The minister said it is a healthy competition, which I believe it is. But we just have to be mindful, so we tone down things that could harm the spirit of this competition, especially the vulgarity, which is rarely found in the BHIM Nation camp,” the Burniton Music Group boss further stated.
