I Get More Respect Now Than When I Used to Twerk – Akuapem Poloo Reveals

Akuapem Poloo

Akuapem Poloo is drawing a clear line between her past and present, crediting a major lifestyle shift for how she is now perceived in public and within the industry.

In an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the Ghanaian actress and socialite reflected on her decision to step away from twerking on social media, describing it as a turning point that reshaped both her image and opportunities.

She explained that the change has altered how people engage with her, noting a noticeable rise in the level of respect she receives compared to earlier in her career.

“I get a lot more respect from people now than when I used to twerk. Even influential people want to get close to me at events,” she said.

Poloo pointed out that her presence at public functions has also evolved, with more invitations coming her way and a more selective approach to the events she attends.

“They invite me to programs, and I attend the ones I can. I’ve stopped twerking for over four years now. When I used to twerk, things were good for me.”

Beyond public perception, she indicated that her business dealings have taken a quieter, more strategic direction. While partnerships continue to come in, she has chosen to keep many of them out of the spotlight.

“I also get a lot of corporate deals, but I’ve decided not to publicize them,” she shared.

She added that her focus has shifted from the ambassadorial roles she once embraced to more corporate-driven collaborations, a transition she says she prefers.

“I used to sign ambassadorial deals and many others, but now I only get corporate deals, and I like it,” Akuapem Poloo further stated.
