“I’m One of the Best” – Epixode Speaks on His Stagecraft and Creative Journey

Epixode

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Epixode has positioned himself firmly among the country’s top stage performers, saying his reputation has been built through years of practice and a strong foundation in visual arts.

In an interview with Kafui Dey on April 13, 2026, he explained that his shows are designed to deliver more than just music, blending sound, visuals and performance into a single experience.

“I’m proud that I’m one of the best performers in Ghana. It’s not because I’ve said it but because I’ve seen what I’ve done with my performance over the years,” he said.

He believes his training in the arts plays a central role in how he constructs his stage presence and creative direction, influencing everything from concept development to execution.

“My arts background also helped shape whatever concept I want to perform. When you come to Epixode’s concert, definitely, you will have a bit of Ragga, Afrobeats and arts. It’s not just listening to the music; you will see things,” he stated.

According to him, even the smallest details of his live shows are intentional, including wardrobe choices that are meant to deepen the audience experience.

“Even the costume alone is another experience. I’m a whole record label,” he said.

Epixode also reflected on how his interest in art began long before music became his main focus, tracing it back to his childhood.

“When I was young, my mother was always on tour, so my aunt used to take me to school. One day, when my aunt took me to class, I met a guy who actually cartooned anything. He taught me how to draw and that’s where my arts started from,” he recounted.

He noted that his creative path was not influenced by family tradition but rather personal curiosity that gradually developed into a serious pursuit.

“I don’t know anyone in my family who draws, but I had to follow up from there. Then I decided to do arts in school,” he disclosed.

For him, art and music remain closely linked, constantly feeding into each other in his creative process.

“With the arts, I think it’s just me trying to be curious about something and I want to create it. I have some of my music inspired by art. You can’t take art out of the music neither can you take music out of the art,” Epixode stated.
