Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, has sparked debate with his strong views on young men marrying women who already have children.
The leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries made the comments during an interview on Asempa FM, where he questioned why a man who is only beginning his life journey would choose to marry a woman with children.
Kumchacha used a football analogy to illustrate his position, asking whether it was possible for one team to begin a match already ahead on the scoreboard.
He argued that, in his opinion, a young man who knowingly enters such a marriage has a low intelligence quotient (IQ).
“If a woman already has children, and you are a young man just starting out in life, why would you consider marrying her? Have you ever seen a football match where one team is already leading before the game even begins? In my view, any man who chooses to marry a woman with children has a low IQ.
“If both the man and the woman already have children, then it is understandable because they are both coming into the marriage with children. But for a young man who is just starting life to marry a woman who already has children, that is simply nonsense,” he stated.
The preacher went further, revealing that he would personally discourage his own child from marrying a woman who already has children.
According to him, people have different preferences when it comes to relationships and marriage. He added that women with children would eventually meet men who are also parents and are willing to build families with them.
Kumchacha’s comments were also tested against his role as a religious leader when he was asked whether he would bless a marriage between a young man and a woman who already has children.
His response suggested that his reservations extend beyond his personal beliefs.
“Even in my church, I do not advise my congregants to have weddings,” he further stated.
