Angélique Kidjo’s historic achievement in Hollywood has given Stonebwoy another reason to celebrate the bond he shares with the legendary African musician.
The French-Beninese icon became the first African singer to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame after being honoured on August 18, 2026.
Kidjo became the 2,854th honouree in the Recording category, adding the prestigious recognition to a career that includes five Grammy Awards and decades of influence in global music.
Stonebwoy joined the tributes following the landmark achievement, using a post on X to reflect on his personal connection with the celebrated singer.
The Ghanaian dancehall artiste recalled performing alongside Kidjo at the Royal Albert Hall in the United Kingdom, describing the experience as a moment that remains difficult to believe.
“To make music with the first African woman to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To call her Africa Mama. To perform with her as a special guest on her 40th at the Royal Albert Hall,” he wrote.
Stonebwoy also spoke about the special place Kidjo occupies in his career, referring to her as his godmother in the music industry.
He said he considers himself fortunate to have developed such a relationship with an artiste of her stature and to have her featured on a song with him.
“To have an existing godmother relationship with her. Damn!!! I’m so blessed. BHIMNATION will have bragging rights FOREVER. #WakeUp,” the ‘Tuff Seed’ composer further stated.
