Ghanaian rapper Kwaw Kese has questioned the growing culture of insults and harassment on social media, particularly among individuals who use artiste fan bases as cover to attack others online.
The rapper raised the concern in a post on X on September 24, 2026, where he criticised the way some social media users have made personal attacks part of everyday online conversations.
Kwaw Kese said some people, whom he referred to as “kids”, often hide behind their allegiance to musicians to insult other artistes over comments or issues that have nothing to do with them.
“So it has become a norm for people who could even be your kids to insult you when you tweet unprovoked or say something that doesn’t affect them in any way.
“And the musicians who are supposed to know better support them because they’re their fans,” he said.
His comments also drew attention to the role musicians themselves play when their supporters engage in abusive exchanges online.
According to Kwaw Kese, artistes who know better should not encourage such behaviour simply because those involved are part of their fan base.
He further challenged social media users to consider whether insults have become the default response whenever disagreements arise.
