Ghanaian comic actor Dr Likee has explained why fellow actor Kyekyeku has not been appearing regularly in his comedy content, dismissing suggestions that the two have fallen out.
Dr Likee, also known as Aka Ebenezer, said the reduced collaborations are not the result of any personal disagreement but rather a deliberate decision influenced by the nature of their work and what audiences want to see.
Speaking in an interview shared on social media, the actor explained that he works with several people whom he is helping to develop their talents and careers.
He said when someone from his team becomes popular and gains acceptance from viewers, he gives that person the opportunity to create content independently and build on the recognition they have earned.
Dr Likee also said keeping Kyekyeku away from some productions is a way of maintaining the character’s appeal to audiences.
According to him, having Kyekyeku appear in almost every video could make viewers too accustomed to seeing him and reduce the anticipation surrounding his return.
“There are a lot of people here, and our problem is that if a person travels for a show and is going for the second time, he/she will be questioned. Meanwhile, probably that is what the audience wants and the numbers we want.
“There is no issue between the two of us, but it’s because we are doing what the viewers want. I can’t shoot with only Kyekyeku all the time because of what the viewers want,” Dr Likee further stated.
