Three people have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service over the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing after leaving his residence in Accra.
The suspects, identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai, were arrested following investigations by the Police Missing Persons Unit.
According to a police statement issued on Monday, September 28, preliminary investigations revealed that Mr Kyere left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19 in his Honda Civic but never returned home.
Investigators subsequently traced his movements and established that he had allegedly been lured to the residence of Philip Tefe at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.
The police said further investigations led to the arrest of the suspects, with two of them allegedly confessing to their involvement in the incident.
According to the police account, Mr Tefe told investigators that he attacked Mr Kyere during a confrontation, allegedly striking him with a metallic object and causing injuries.
Mr Kyere was then reportedly moved to another room, where he was left unattended. He later died from the injuries, according to the preliminary findings.
Investigators also established that the victim’s body was allegedly transported in a Kia Morning on September 20 to a location near the motorway.
The body was subsequently dumped in a bush and set ablaze, the police said.
The case remains under investigation as police work to establish the full circumstances surrounding Mr Kyere’s disappearance and death.
The victim, a phone dealer at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, had been reported missing on September 22, prompting investigations by the Police Missing Persons Unit.
