Veteran Nigerian actor Pete Edochie has shown support for Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Armah after visiting him during his recent trip to Ghana.
The respected Nollywood actor presented Armah with a cash gift and, in another touching gesture, added money that had previously been given to him by someone else.
Edochie also used the visit to call for prayers for Armah, who has been away from the spotlight for several years because of serious health challenges.
The meeting between the two veteran actors comes at a difficult point in Armah’s life, following a long battle with illness that has significantly affected his ability to work and live independently.
Armah’s health condition became a major concern within Ghana’s entertainment industry after he suffered a stroke. His condition forced him to withdraw from acting and led to a prolonged period of medical care and recovery.
The actor was admitted to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra in 2017 after suffering the stroke. Following his discharge, he continued receiving care as family members and colleagues tried to support him through the difficult period.
His wife, Stella Amina Anakwa, later spoke publicly about his condition and confirmed that he had been battling the effects of a stroke for years. The illness reportedly left the actor bedridden and unable to continue the active career that had made him familiar to Ghanaian movie audiences.
Before his health problems, Armah was one of the recognisable faces of Ghana’s movie industry. He appeared in several popular productions and worked alongside some of the country’s most established actors.
His film credits include Fresh Trouble, Things Men Do, Beyond Love, Shadows from the Past and Every Woman Wants Me. His performances during the industry’s earlier years helped establish him as a familiar presence on Ghanaian screens.
However, the prolonged health battle gradually took him away from acting and public appearances.
