Doctor Debunks Claims That “Doggy Style” Causes Hernia and Stroke

Dr George Donkor, Chief Executive Officer of Noble Trust Herbal Clinic, has shot down circulating claims that a particular sexual position, popularly known as “doggy style,” can cause hernias, insisting that the assertion has no medical or scientific basis.

The issue surfaced after Rev Ernest Ampaw publicly suggested that the position increases the likelihood of hernia in men, a claim that quickly gained attention and debate across social media platforms.

Responding to the discussion, Dr Donkor spoke on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, where he set out to clarify what hernias are and what actually causes them. He explained that a hernia develops when an organ or fatty tissue pushes through a weak area in the surrounding muscle or connective tissue.

He noted that hernias most commonly occur in the abdominal or groin area and can affect both men and women, though men are statistically more likely to develop the condition.

Addressing the specific allegation, Dr Donkor stated that engaging in doggy style during sex does not cause a hernia and cannot be blamed for the development of one. According to him, there is no scientific evidence linking any sexual position to the onset of the condition.

He added, however, that individuals who already have an existing hernia may feel pain during vigorous sexual activity. In such cases, the discomfort is due to the pre-existing weakness, not because a new hernia is being formed. Aggressive physical exertion, he explained, can worsen symptoms but does not create the condition.

Dr Donkor also dismissed claims that the same sexual position could trigger a stroke, describing such suggestions as medically unfounded. He stressed that for a healthy man without underlying health issues, there is no evidence to show that specific sexual positions carry extreme risks such as hernia or stroke.
