I Don’t Want Fire Oja’s Money, I Just Want My Name Cleared – Mzbel Clarifies

Ghanaian singer and entrepreneur Mzbel is demanding a public retraction and apology from preacher Prophet Fire Oja over statements she says have damaged her reputation.

Speaking to the media on March 11, 2026, the singer explained that her decision to pursue legal action is not motivated by financial compensation but by a desire to hold the preacher responsible for remarks she insists are false. She said her priority is for him to withdraw the claims he made about her and apologise publicly so that the matter can be put behind them, adding that she has no interest in receiving money from him.

Mzbel also stated that being described as a liar has deepened the conflict. According to her, that accusation lies at the centre of the legal dispute now before the court.

She clarified that before the controversy emerged she had never had any contact with the preacher. Mzbel said she does not know him personally and had never met or spoken with him prior to the allegations becoming public.

The musician believes the attack started after someone used her testimony to promote a project. In her view, that situation triggered the preacher’s public criticism and led to others who already had disagreements with her joining the attacks.

Initially, she thought the matter could be resolved through a conversation. However, she said the situation has continued to escalate because the preacher keeps repeating the claims and continues to call her dishonest, an allegation she strongly rejects.

Mzbel said the controversy has had direct consequences for her professional life and business operations. She explained that the issue surfaced around December, a period when she normally receives numerous bookings for performances and public events.

According to her, the situation quickly gained attention online after the preacher allegedly urged the public to avoid associating with her, despite the fact that her work depends largely on public support. She said the timing was particularly damaging because it coincided with the festive season when she usually earns a significant portion of her income from shows.

The singer added that her businesses rely heavily on the support of young people who promote and patronise her ventures. She noted that she runs several enterprises including a pub, a playground, a restaurant and her music career, which is why she felt compelled to defend both her reputation and her livelihood.

The disagreement between the two began after Prophet Fire Oja alleged that the singer suffered serious health complications in 2025 following a visit to a traditionalist known as Ola Maame for what he described as a soul travel ritual. He further claimed the incident resulted in Mzbel being hospitalised for treatment.

The preacher also accused the singer, known for the song 16 Years, of collaborating with the traditionalist to deceive women who visit Ola Maame’s shrine in Kasoa.

Mzbel has firmly rejected those allegations and challenged anyone circulating the claims to produce evidence that she ever had any negative experience with the spiritualist.

Through her lawyers, the musician later served a legal notice demanding that the preacher withdraw his statements, issue an apology and pay compensation. The notice reportedly gave him ten days to respond.

According to Mzbel, the preacher failed to comply with those demands, a development that ultimately pushed her to take the dispute to court.
