Kalsoume Sinare Appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain, Marking New Diplomatic Chapter for Film Icon
Ghanaian screen icon and filmmaker Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe is stepping into a new spotlight, this time on the global diplomatic stage. She has been officially appointed Ghana’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, a move that blends cultural prestige with international diplomacy.
Sinare, according to a report, is one of 15 distinguished figures named by President John Dramani Mahama as part of a fresh slate of diplomatic envoys tasked with representing Ghana’s interests abroad. The list, unveiled this week, comprises a mix of ambassadors, high commissioners, and a consul-general designate, all entrusted with strengthening Ghana’s global relations.
Best known for her extensive contributions to film and television, Sinare’s influence in Ghana’s entertainment sector spans decades. Long before her breakout roles in movies, she made waves as a model, representing Ghana on the world stage at the Miss Model of the World pageant in 1990. Her striking image quickly became a fixture in local advertising and television, making her a household name.
Outside of the arts, Sinare is equally admired for her family life. She is married to Anthony Baffoe, a revered former Black Stars player and high-ranking football official, who once served as the Deputy General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The couple, both devout Muslims, are proud parents to three children: Shaquille, Bouqeem, and Keishera.
