“I Would Have Been a Soldier” – Stonebwoy Reflects on Life Before Music

Stonebwoy

Stonebwoy has reflected on how easily his career path could have shifted away from music, admitting that under different circumstances he may have ended up in military service instead of the entertainment industry.

The Ghanaian artiste shared this in an interview on Off The Record in London, pointing to a long-standing admiration for the armed forces shaped by both personal fascination and his father’s experience as a former soldier. He noted that military life has always stood out to him for its order and identity.

“The structure, discipline, and appearance of military life have long appealed to him.”

“Personally, I would have loved to be a soldier. I just love the uniform and I love the discipline that comes with it. It fascinates me to be in the military. I love that because I’m one person who was grown like that, so I think the influence was right there. I love discipline. I love orderliness. Positivity aside everything,” he said.

He explained that discipline was not something he observed from a distance but something that shaped his upbringing. Even so, his decision to pursue music did not come without resistance at home, particularly from his father.

“I mean, I had a little hurdle with my dad, because for whatever reason at first, but now it’s what it is. You can’t stop what it’s supposed to be. If I was to become a doctor, I’m not sure anybody could have stopped me. I would still have become a doctor,” Stonebwoy stated.

Beyond looking back at his early ambitions, Stonebwoy is also preparing for a significant international step with his flagship event, BHIM Fest, which is set to make its United Kingdom debut.

The festival is scheduled for August 15, 2026, at the OVO Arena Wembley, extending its reach beyond West Africa for the first time.
