Ghanaian hiplife artiste Tic Tac says reports suggesting he has retired from music are inaccurate, explaining that he is only slowing down after years of active service in the industry.
He describes this phase of his life as a deliberate shift after spending much of his youth chasing a music career and building his brand. Now, he says his focus is on living more peacefully, enjoying personal time, and being present with his family and close friends.
Despite the change in pace, Tic Tac emphasised that he has not exited music entirely. He insists he will still put out songs whenever inspiration strikes.
“I’m a musician; I’ve not retired, I’ve not announced that yet, and I believe that I am just enjoying my life. I spent all my childhood making people happy. I have a family now, am happy around them, am enjoying my money and my life, and am giving back to society. Whenever I am in the mood, I will drop something,” he clarified.
He also used the opportunity to comment on what he sees as a troubling shift in the music space, where some younger artistes resort to disrespecting veterans and peers in a bid for attention and relevance.
While he criticised the behaviour, he admitted he understands the motivation behind it in today’s competitive industry environment.
To him, respect is not automatic but something that is earned, and often influenced by the company one keeps.
Still, he made it clear he was not interested in naming individuals or targeting anyone personally.
“For me it is about who you associate with; I mean, respect is earned. Someone can disrespect you just to create attention, which is wrong but it’s fine; we know where it’s coming from,” Tic Tac stated.
