Kuami Eugene Explains “Sweet Boy” EP as His New Independent Era After Lynx Exit

Ghanaian singer Kuami Eugene says the title of his latest EP, “Sweet Boy”, marks a refreshed chapter in his career after parting ways with Lynx Entertainment, where he previously worked.

In an interview with TV3 on May 3, 2026, he explained that the project was designed as a reintroduction of himself as an independent artiste while strengthening his bond with listeners.

He traced the concept back to the period after his departure from the label, when he felt the need to work harder and rebuild his solo catalogue.

“The ‘Sweet Boy’ idea came when I exited Lynx Entertainment two years ago and I needed to put in more work,” he said.

Kuami Eugene noted that his transition began with standalone releases, pointing out that one of his final songs under the label was “Monica”.

“I started with singles, Monica was my last single with Lynx Entertainment and I released a couple of singles,” he explained.

After that phase, he said he made a conscious decision to bring those efforts together into a complete project, which eventually became the “Sweet Boy” EP.

“Then I figured I needed to put together a body of work for my fans and Ghanaians. I put together Sweet Boy,” he shared.

He went on to explain that the title was chosen to reflect a broad appeal, positioning him as an artiste who resonates across different age groups and households.

“The reason for choosing that name was that I wanted to be recognised as the guy who fits every household. The moms, the kids, the uncles, aunties and everyone love him because he’s that sweet boy. It’s just a bunch of happiness when Kuami is around,” he said.

While acknowledging his long-standing “rockstar” identity, he stressed that the EP also highlights a softer, more relatable dimension of his music persona.

“I still have the rockstar image, but then again, I’m just reminding everybody that I’m that sweet boy you can call brother, son, because I fit everywhere,” he noted.

He described the project as one built around calm, versatile sounds, with subtle Highlife influences woven into its foundation.

“It’s solely sweet music right now. It used to be Highlife music and I have a bit of Highlife music in the EP, but it’s more like soothing music. Something you can play everywhere; in your car alone or with family and I have every vibe in there,” Kuami Eugene further stated.
