Fresh details have emerged about the final days of late Ghanaian actress Beverly Afaglo, with her manager revealing that she remained determined throughout her battle with cancer and made the difficult decision to return to Ghana so she could spend more time with her children.
Speaking on Citi FM on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Abu Iddris disclosed that the actress had been battling cancer for two years before passing away late Saturday night at the International Maritime Hospital in Tema.
According to him, the illness began as breast cancer before later spreading through her body because of its hereditary nature.
“It started as breast cancer, but it’s genetic, so it circulates and spreads,” he said.
Iddris recounted how the actress continued pushing through work and public appearances even while undergoing treatment, refusing to let her health struggles overshadow her life and career.
“It’s been a relentless war. She really fought hard,” Iddris revealed.
He explained that despite her condition, Beverly remained active during the production and promotion of the movie Pimp’s Paradise, attending premieres and participating in publicity activities while receiving treatment.
“She’s been unwell for a very long time, but because she was fighting and we went through treatment, we shot Pimp’s Paradise while she was undergoing treatment — the premiere, the promotions,” he explained.
“She lived well, doing her very best until the cancer got the better of her,” he added.
Iddris also revealed that the actress had initially sought medical care in the United States before deciding to return home, choosing to spend her remaining time close to her family.
“She chose to come here with her kids, knowing the situation. She chose to come see her kids and spend her last days with them at home,” Iddris said. “This is who Beverly is.”
He confirmed that Beverly died at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the International Maritime Hospital (IMaH) in Tema.
News about the actress’s illness first became public after her husband shared the situation on social media. For now, the family says its focus remains on mourning her loss, with funeral arrangements yet to be discussed publicly.
“We are taking it slow today. It just happened, and we are really trying to breathe. We need to grieve her. For now, we’re grieving our sister,” he said.
Beverly Afaglo left behind her husband and children.
