Rev Ahenkan Names Nana Aba as His “Preferred Target” While Denying Love Charm Claims

Rev Ahenkan Bons

Nearly 20 years after their marriage ended, Rev Ahenkan Bonsu is once again speaking publicly about his relationship with gospel singer Esther Smith, this time dismissing long-standing allegations that he used love charms to win her over.

Speaking in an interview on Radio XYZ, the former husband of the gospel musician insisted the accusations never made sense to him, arguing that if his intentions had truly been driven by fame or status, Esther Smith would not have been the woman he pursued.

Rev Ahenkan claimed that during the early 2000s, famous broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah would have been the more likely person he would have targeted because of her popularity and public image at the time.

“Assuming I wanted to charm any woman in 2003 or 2004 because of fame and money, do you think I would have gone for Esther Smith?

“Looking at that period, Esther was still new, and the kind of English Nana Aba Anamoah was speaking on TV3, she would have been my preferred target because she was the epitome of a woman,” he said.

He went on to explain that his interest in Esther Smith had nothing to do with celebrity status or financial gain. According to him, it was her humility that first attracted him after a friend repeatedly spoke highly of her character.

“I was advised by a friend to forget about the women abroad because there were good women in Accra. Kwame used to visit Esther and noticed how humble she was, so he admired her humility. Through that, he encouraged me to propose to Esther,” Rev Ahenkan further stated.
