The cost of putting together his latest movie appears to be weighing heavily on Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, with the actor admitting that thoughts about unpaid balances have been keeping him awake at night.
Lilwin is currently working on Journey to Africa, a highly anticipated production that has brought some of Nigeria’s well-known actors to Ghana.
In a video posted online, the Kumawood actor spoke about the pressure that comes with assembling such a cast, particularly the financial obligations attached to the project.
He disclosed that he sometimes wakes up unexpectedly during the night after dreaming about the Nigerian actors asking for the money he still owes them.
Kanayo O Kanayo, who is part of the cast, is among the actors Lilwin said features prominently in these dreams as he worries about settling the outstanding payments.
“I can’t sleep. I sometimes wake up at dawn all of a sudden; it feels like I owe them. It feels like Kanayo O Kanayo is demanding his balance.
“I didn’t sleep yesterday. I woke up around 2 AM. I was dreaming, and they were demanding their balance,” he said.
Beyond the sleepless nights, Lilwin also took aim at the perception that he has amassed enough wealth to bankroll the entire production without financial difficulties.
The filmmaker suggested that anyone who believes he is financially comfortable should allow the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to examine his accounts.
Rather than proving him to be wealthy, Lilwin jokingly claimed such an exercise could leave the institution feeling sorry for him and possibly putting money into his account.
“You think I have money; EOCO should come and check my accounts. After they go through my accounts, they will be the ones to even deposit money inside for me,” Lilwin further stated.
