Nigerian singer Mr Eazi has revealed that Shatta Wale has repeatedly shown up to support him without asking for payment, describing the Ghanaian dancehall star as one of the most genuine people he knows.
Mr Eazi said he had never paid Shatta Wale to perform at any of his shows, despite having to pay other artistes who make appearances at his events.
Speaking during a livestream with MadeinGhana on October 25, 2026, the singer recalled an unexpected appearance by Shatta Wale at his Detty Rave event, which left a lasting impression on him.
According to Mr Eazi, he was performing on stage when the crowd’s sudden reaction caught his attention. He later discovered that Shatta Wale had arrived at the event to show his support without informing him beforehand.
“I was just performing, then all of a sudden, people started screaming. I was wondering what was going on, only for me to look back and I saw Shatta Wale. He came to support me and he didn’t even call me. We didn’t have any conversation about the show,” he said.
The Nigerian musician explained that Shatta Wale’s willingness to support him without expecting anything in return was particularly meaningful, especially considering the financial arrangements he typically makes with other performers at his events.
“A lot of times I do shows and you see artistes there, I pay them, but I’ve never paid Shatta Wale to come and perform. He would turn up there and show love,” he stated.
Mr Eazi said the gesture influenced how he responded when Shatta Wale organised his stadium concert. He recalled staying awake until around 4 a.m. to support the Ghanaian musician, noting that he wanted to reciprocate the kindness he had received.
“That’s why when he had the stadium show, I stayed up till like 4 a.m. to support him,” Mr Eazi disclosed.
Beyond their professional relationship, Mr Eazi spoke highly of Shatta Wale’s character, arguing that the public perception of the dancehall artiste does not fully reflect the person he knows.
While some people regard Shatta Wale as controversial or unpredictable, Mr Eazi maintained that the musician is both intelligent and sincere in his dealings with others.
“A lot of people feel like Shatta Wale is crazy or like a live wire, but he’s actually one of the smartest people I know. He is also one of the realest people I know,” he further stated.
