Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo announces the death of his father in a heartfelt post

Ghanaian actor and newly elected Member of Parliament, John Dumelo, has announced the passing of his father, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr.

In a heartfelt post on X, the Ayawaso West Wuogon MP, elected on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket, shared that his father passed away on January 4, 2025.

Dumelo recounted how his father had called him multiple times that day, urging him to visit. The two shared a meaningful conversation about politics, life, farming, and business, just days before Dumelo’s swearing-in ceremony.

“Yesterday you called me several times to come see you,” Dumelo wrote. “We sat on the bed and spoke at length about politics, life, farming, and business, and of course, we gossiped. You told me to serve diligently in government.”

Tragically, only 10 minutes after leaving his father’s home, Dumelo received a distressing call that his father had become unresponsive. Despite rushing him to the hospital, his father passed away.

Expressing his grief, Dumelo wrote: “At age 75, you lived your life well. Thanks for being my father, my best friend, my number one cheerleader, and for everything you did for me. Say hi to mum for us all… we will miss you. Rest in perfect peace, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr.”

The actor-turned-politician paid tribute to his father’s guidance and support, vowing to honor his memory as he takes on his new role in public service.
