“I’m a Happy Ghanaian” – Samini Commends Mahama and Judiciary Over Anti-Corruption Drive

Ghanaian dancehall heavyweight Samini is welcoming a new wave of accountability in public service, and he’s not shying away from naming credit where it’s due.

Appearing on the debut episode of PrimeTime with George Quaye on Joy Prime, the musician, well known for his candid views on national issues, applauded President John Dramani Mahama and Ghana’s judiciary for their bold stance in prosecuting high-profile figures involved in corruption and financial misconduct.

“As I speak to you currently, what we are seeing… I’m a happy Ghanaian,” Samini shared during the conversation. “I like the fact that people are being brought to book and justice is being served, or it seems like it is. Things like that, I am for.”

Unlike many entertainers who remain cautious about political commentary, Samini drew a clear line between partisanship and principle. He emphasized that leadership must be judged by values and actions, not loyalty.

“If you are put in public office, it’s your responsibility to serve Ghana, and do anything dubious, you should be brought to book. I like that. Things like that, we like to see… That’s how we build a better Ghana.”

Pressed on whether he believes the current administration is on the right path, Samini offered a cautious endorsement, singling out the justice system for notable progress.

“The President and judicial system are doing a good job so far. That’s the area I’ve seen a lot of action. Anything else, I think it’s too early to throw too much light on.”
