Fire Oja Apologizes After Arrest Over Defamatory Claims About Mzbel

Mzbel and Prophet Fire Oja

The controversy surrounding prophet Fire Oja and Mzbel has taken a surprising turn, as the prophet has admitted wrongdoing and offered an apology.

Mzbel previously revealed that Fire Oja was arrested by the Ghana Police Service following comments she described as defamatory. The prophet had claimed that the singer was seriously ill and received treatment at a hospital in Kasoa.

He went on to assert that Mzbel recovered through divine intervention and accused her of later posting online about engaging in soul travel. Fire Oja warned his followers to keep their distance from her, suggesting she could spiritually mislead them.

Those statements generated widespread public backlash, prompting police action and his subsequent detention while investigations were carried out.

On January 6, 2025, Mzbel shared updates on social media, explaining that Fire Oja had acknowledged his misconduct and apologized. She noted that he was initially held in custody for up to 48 hours to allow police to complete their inquiries.

“After I left the Police CID Headquarters, officers contacted me to inform me that Fire Oja had pleaded guilty to all the allegations brought against him and had apologized for his statements,” Mzbel said.

She further revealed that the prophet has since been granted bail and is expected to appear in court in the coming days as the legal process continues. Mzbel emphasized that his detention was meant solely to facilitate the investigation, adding that there was no reason to keep him at the police headquarters longer once he had cooperated and taken responsibility for his actions.
