“Maturity Is Not About Degrees” – Sammy Flex Takes Swipe at Stonebwoy

Sammy Flex and Shatta Wale

Sammy Flex has waded into the fallout from comments made by Stonebwoy at the 2026 World Cup fundraising launch, using the moment to question the artiste’s judgement on such a high-profile stage.

The controversy stems from Stonebwoy’s remarks at the event, where he hinted that his long-running tension with Shatta Wale is far from over. To make his point, he likened their rivalry to the enduring contest between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, arguing that just as those clubs thrive on competition, his differences with Shatta Wale are unlikely to disappear.

The analogy has since sparked heavy criticism online, with many questioning whether the occasion called for that tone.

Reacting in a video shared online, Sammy Flex did not hold back, describing Stonebwoy’s conduct as misplaced and lacking maturity.

“I now understand why in some rooms Shatta will be called, and he is not called, because he is not mature enough. Maturity is not about the number of degrees you have; it is about understanding your environment and comporting yourself in a way that does not offend or hurt others.

“Shatta understood the assignment. He appeared as a mature individual, organised and composed, knowing that the President was present, so it was not the place for unnecessary remarks. All those shades were not needed,” he said.

He continued by arguing that outward appearance should not be confused with real composure, insisting that Stonebwoy’s delivery missed the mark for the setting.

“The speech Stonebwoy delivered sounded more like an awards ceremony speech than one for a presidential fundraiser. He overdid it. Maturity is not in a suit and tie.

“Some people may dress formally but behave informally, while others may dress casually yet carry themselves with great decorum,” Sammy Flex further stated.
