Ghanaian actor and media personality Mikki Osei Berko, better known in entertainment circles as “Master Richard,” has been installed as the acting chief of Adomorobe. He now carries the stool name Nana Osei Boakye Yiadom II.
The veteran actor, who became a household name through the television series Taxi Driver, was formally enstooled during a traditional ceremony attended by elders, kingmakers, and residents of the community. The installation signals a notable shift for him, moving from screen fame into a leadership position within a traditional setting.
After the rites, he addressed the gathering briefly, describing the moment as humbling. He thanked the kingmakers for the trust placed in him and also acknowledged the substantive chief of Adomorobe. He explained that the decision to allow him to serve in an acting capacity while the chief is still alive reflects a shared desire to maintain unity and stability in the town.
He further noted that although the substantive chief is still living, health challenges have limited his ability to actively carry out his duties. This, he said, made it necessary for an acting leader to step in to support continuity in governance and community development.
Master Richard added that he accepts the responsibility with seriousness, pledging to work closely with elders and other stakeholders to strengthen peace, encourage development, and protect the cultural heritage of Adomorobe.
Known in private life as Mikki Osei Berko, he is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most recognisable screen figures. Beyond acting, he has worked as a media personality, filmmaker, and brand ambassador for various organisations. His role as “Master Richard” in Taxi Driver remains one of his most defining performances and helped cement his place in Ghana’s television history.
He has also previously served in public office as an assemblyman and has maintained an active presence in broadcasting, contributing to both radio and television platforms over the years.
