Rose Gold has opened up about her views on marriage, wealth and personal ambition, saying financial security is a key factor she would consider before choosing a life partner.
The Ghanaian businesswoman and socialite made the comments during an interview with MC Portfolio on Angel FM on August 2, 2026, where she argued that people should work towards improving their circumstances and creating meaningful lives.
According to Rose Gold, she would not consider marrying a man who is financially struggling, insisting that poverty should not be accepted as a permanent condition.
“I can’t marry a poor man. Even a poor man is not mentioned in the Bible,” she said.
She explained that her outlook on life also influences the people and events she chooses to associate with, including funerals. Rose Gold said she prefers occasions that celebrate achievements and legacies rather than those centred on tragedy.
“Even with funerals, I’ve never attended where they say, ‘What a shock.’ I only attend a celebration of life, a life well-lived,” she stated.
The businesswoman advised those facing financial difficulties to focus on changing their situations before considering marriage, stressing that personal progress should come first.
“What is a poor man doing with marriage? They should just be doing the Lord’s work so that God will take them out of that situation because being poor is not a good thing,” she shared.
However, Rose Gold clarified that her comments were not intended to suggest that people experiencing poverty lack worth or the ability to love.
“I’m not saying a poor man is not human or he can’t love a woman. What I’m saying is that you should be willing to accept some titles for yourself in life,” she explained.
She further encouraged individuals to pursue achievements that create lasting recognition, rather than focusing solely on accumulating wealth.
“There are some families who have built a name for themselves over the years, so even if they’re not alive anymore, the name is still there. You should be eager to make an impact, not just get a lot of money to be called a rich man,” Rose Gold further stated.
