“Find Ways to Generate Revenue” – Shatta Wale Fires at Entertainment Players

Shatta Wale

Shatta Wale has turned his fire on Ghana’s entertainment space, arguing that too much of its energy is spent on chatter that brings neither growth nor money.

Writing on Facebook, the ‘Freedom’ composer criticised what he sees as a culture hooked on controversy. Instead of developing business models and creative ventures, he said, key players prefer to recycle scandals and personal issues for attention.

“In the Ghanaian entertainment industry, they only talk about problems and not solutions. How can we be discussing sex tapes and whose bottos is big?… They sit and discuss past stories that won’t generate any income,” he wrote.

According to him, entire careers have been built around celebrity disputes and sensational topics, yet little has been done to convert that visibility into sustainable revenue. He admitted that as a younger artiste, he once looked up to some of the same figures he now questions.

“I grew up watching some of these people, thinking they were living the stardom life until I realized myself, how they have wasted many years just doing konkonsa with zero benefits,” he added.

The famous Ghanaian dancehall artiste also revisited the criticism he faced when he began hosting frequent Facebook Live sessions. At the time, detractors branded him a “social media artiste.” Today, he noted, many of those same critics have embraced live streaming and direct-to-fan platforms as viable income channels.

“The world is changing and if care is not taken you will have yourself to blame. Stop wasting your time discussing people’s matters as entertainment topics and find ways to generate Revenue,” Shatta Wale further stated.
