How President Mahama’s Airport Remark Stopped Dr Likee from Quitting Acting

Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, known to many as Dr Likee, has opened up about a turning point that reshaped his career at a time he was ready to walk away from it all.

Speaking to Giovani Caleb on Showbiz 360, the popular comic actor disclosed that he had reached a stage where he was seriously contemplating quitting acting and comedy. After years of producing movies and creating online skits, he said he felt it might be time to step aside from the entertainment scene.

That plan, however, shifted unexpectedly during a chance encounter at an airport.

Dr Likee recalled meeting President John Dramani Mahama, an interaction he describes as brief but deeply impactful. According to him, the President welcomed him warmly and revealed that he regularly watches and enjoys his comedy content.

The comment caught him off guard.

He admitted the words left him surprised and genuinely moved. For someone in high public office to follow his work so closely was something he had never imagined.

The experience forced him to reconsider his decision to exit the industry. He said the President’s remarks reminded him that his craft carries weight and resonates with people across different levels of society.

Dr Likee explained that the moment restored his drive and convinced him to keep creating. Realising that even a national leader with a demanding schedule finds time to watch and laugh at his skits, he said, renewed his belief in the value of his work and strengthened his resolve to stay in the game.
