Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has ordered a full investigation into the death of missing UCC student Innocentia Atsufui Avinu.

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has directed a comprehensive probe into the death of University of Cape Coast student Innocentia Atsufui Avinu, whose body was discovered on a beach in Cape Coast days after she was reported missing.

The tragic death of the 20-year-old Level 200 student has sparked concern, prompting the minister to call for a thorough investigation to establish exactly what happened.

Police have already confirmed the recovery of Innocentia Avinu’s body at a beach in the city and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

In a statement released on Sunday, June 14, the Ministry of Education described the incident as deeply troubling and appealed to the public to remain calm while security agencies carry out their work.

As part of the directive, Haruna Iddrisu instructed the management of the University of Cape Coast to collaborate closely with the Ghana Police Service and provide any information that could aid ongoing investigations.

The ministry said it expects full cooperation from all relevant parties as authorities work to uncover the facts behind the student’s death.

It also conveyed its sympathies to the bereaved family, friends and the wider University of Cape Coast community, while urging the public to allow investigators to carry out their duties without interference.
