Kumchacha’s Church Turns Into “Sea” After Accra Floods, Appeals to NADMO for Help

Prophet Nicholas Osei, well known as Kumchacha, has called on the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to intervene after torrential rains left his Heaven’s Gate Ministries church in Mallam severely affected by flooding.

The founder and leader of the church shared his ordeal in a video posted on his social media platforms on June 29, 2026, revealing that he was met with shocking news after waking up to reports of floodwaters overwhelming the church premises.

According to the preacher, the damage was extensive, with part of the church building collapsing as a result of the flooding. He said the development had left him devastated and appealed to his followers for prayers and emotional support.

“I woke up this morning with a heavy heart. I didn’t wake up with good news and I’ve been affected badly. I need prayers from my loved ones because it’s not easy on my side,” he said.

Kumchacha explained that the level of flooding inside the church had made the building difficult to access, describing how water had risen significantly within the premises.

“The rain has caused flooding in my church at Mallam. Part of the building has collapsed and the floodwater would get to your waist level when you’re standing in it,” he lamented.

The pastor also claimed that the flooding had resulted in the deaths of two people within the neighbourhood, although the reports have not been independently verified.

Beyond the situation at his church, Kumchacha highlighted the wider impact of the downpour across Accra, saying several areas had been overwhelmed by rising floodwaters. He disclosed that he was stranded in East Legon, where roads and bridges had become difficult to access.

“It’s alleged that two people had died in the neighbourhood. I’m in East Legon right now and the whole place is also flooded. The floodwater has covered the big bridge to the extent that we can’t even see it. No cars can pass through the flood because most cars were also washed away,” he shared.

He further revealed that commuters on the Kasoa road had reportedly faced hours of delays due to the flood situation, with many unable to continue their journeys.

“People have been stuck in traffic for six to seven hours on the Kasoa road. No cars are moving to enable them to get to their destinations,” he noted.

In response to the destruction, Kumchacha appealed to NADMO officials to visit the church, assess the extent of the damage and offer the needed assistance.

“It has not been easy for me this morning. My church has now turned into a sea. NADMO should kindly check my church for me. It’s around the Mallam station,” he appealed.

The preacher also urged residents to prioritise safety and avoid unnecessary travel until the flood situation improves, warning that personal safety should come before every other concern.

“If you’ve not stepped out yet, don’t think of going anywhere. Everyone should stay safe and remain in your homes. Your life is more important than anything,” Prophet Kumchacha further stated.
