Ghanaian actress and media personality Ahoufe Patricia believes women should stop waiting for opportunities to come their way and instead take a more active role in shaping the country’s future.
The actress says women already wield significant influence in society and should translate that influence into greater representation in leadership, particularly within the creative industry and public institutions.
Speaking to Nikki Samonas on Joy Prime, Ahoufe Patricia was asked whether women could “take over the world” within the next 10 years.
In response, she argued that the contribution of women to society is already so fundamental that their influence should not be underestimated.
“Women run the world. Nothing would exist without women. Men can’t live alone. We can survive on our own, but men can’t. I think we are still realizing it.
“Hopefully, we will be able to step into our power, own it, and realize that we can do what men can do, and even more and better,” Ahoufe Patricia stated.
The actress also expressed confidence that Ghana’s institutions can accommodate more women in positions of authority.
Addressing whether the judiciary and government are prepared for increased female leadership, she pointed to women who have already risen to prominent positions within the judicial system and other state institutions as evidence of progress.
For Ahoufe Patricia, however, greater representation will require women themselves to be more deliberate about pursuing leadership opportunities rather than allowing existing challenges to discourage them.
She placed particular emphasis on the entertainment industry, where she believes women need to become more visible in roles that influence how projects are created, financed and directed.
“I just feel like it’s up to us to step up more. Hopefully, there will be more female producers and directors. We are ready, just that a lot more of us need to push instead of surrender,” Ahoufe Patricia further stated.
