Big Akwes Apologizes to Cina Soul After Disturbing Remarks On TV

A television segment meant for laughs veered into disturbing territory and triggered public backlash, leading Ghanaian actor Big Akwes to issue an apology to singer Cina Soul for what she described as “threatening” remarks made during a broadcast.

The controversy erupted after a now-viral clip aired on Bryt TV, where Big Akwes participated in a game of “Kiss–Marry–Kill.” When asked to choose between actress Vivian Jill and singer Cina Soul, he casually said he would marry Vivian, then spiraled into a graphic and chilling fantasy about killing Cina Soul. His description included summoning her through a magical mirror, stabbing her multiple times, and drinking her blood.

The shocking content sparked swift public outrage. On July 1, 2025, a visibly shaken Cina Soul took to X (formerly Twitter), tagging the Ghana Police Service, Communications Minister Sam George, and the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation.

“@GhPoliceService I’m deeply unsettled by this… I may not know the proper channels to report this, but it’s critical we take a firm stance against this kind of dangerous rhetoric being broadcast on our TV and radio platforms,” she wrote.

Her post galvanized widespread support and ignited renewed scrutiny of what constitutes acceptable content in televised entertainment. Many called on authorities to hold both Big Akwes and Bryt TV accountable for broadcasting the segment without editorial restraint.

Facing growing criticism, Bryt TV invited Big Akwes back on air to address the fallout. He insisted his remarks were never meant to be taken seriously and apologized for the fear and distress caused.

“This was meant purely for entertainment purposes; I never intended to actually harm her… I sincerely apologize if my comments caused panic for Cina Soul, her family, close friends, or anyone connected to her. I have no malicious intentions toward her,” Big Akwes said, adding that he even learned Cina Soul’s mother had been frightened by his words.

Alongside the video of his apology, Bryt TV issued a formal statement, acknowledging the gravity of the situation and offering regret for the broadcast.

“We extend our sincere apology to singer, Cina Soul and our cherished audience for any unintended offense caused during the ‘Kiss, Marry, Kill’ segment. We remain committed to upholding respect and responsibility in our content.”
