“We All Make Mistakes” – Kaywa Says Following Kurl Songx’s Return To His Label

Kaywa and Kurl Songx

Ghanaian Music producer, Kaywa, has shed new light on the silent and unresolved exit of Kurl Songx from his label in 2019, a departure that, according to him, came without notice or explanation.

In a recent interview on Hitz FM, the CEO of Highly Spiritual Music opened up about the tension-filled period that preceded the breakup, suggesting the rift stemmed from both internal frictions and outside noise that sowed doubt.

“He left because I think there were maybe other opportunities out there for him. It was not on a good note. There were back and forths. I remember he had an issue with even the artistes on the label too. I’m not sure, there’s any record label that says that I’m signing just you this artiste and nobody else comes on the label again,” Kaywa stated.

The producer pointed out that although Kurl Songx may have felt he was moving on to better opportunities, his decision to walk away was heavily influenced by external voices, particularly fans and media personalities who suggested he was being sidelined.

“You see that feeling like once you’re in there and then you’re feeling the attention is not on me. The pressure and usually the fans can cause this; not only the fans but media personalities as well. They will tell you, ‘Leave him, he’s wasting your time. I mean, now they’re projecting other artists.’ So, all these things come to play. And so, like I said, when he wanted to leave, I didn’t say anything. In fact, his exit was not communicated,” he said.

Kaywa acknowledged that managing multiple artistes often comes with the challenge of ensuring each one feels seen and valued. In Kurl Songx’s case, he believes public perception played a major role in heightening feelings of neglect.

But the story took a turn. Years after the split, Kurl Songx made his way back to the label—this time, with an apology and a fresh outlook.

“I’m saying this because, now, as I speak with you, he’s back with me. He’s like, he’s one faithful guy right now. He came apologising and I said, ‘Listen, we all make mistakes,’” Kaywa revealed.

He emphasized his belief in forgiveness and second chances, expressing confidence in the artist’s growth and their revived collaboration.
