Lilwin Alarmed After GSA Operation, Discovers Unusual Mattress Material

Lilwin

A video involving Kumawood actor LilWin has emerged online in the wake of a Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) operation targeting alleged substandard mattress production by a company linked to Chinese nationals.

The incident dates back to May 19, 2026, when the Ghana Standards Authority carried out an enforcement exercise at the Jin Yuan Jia mattress manufacturing facility in Afienya. Reports indicate that several Chinese nationals were arrested during the operation after the company was accused of producing mattresses and related items that failed to meet approved quality and safety specifications.

Investigations also suggest the facility had been operating in breach of a court order issued in October 2025, which reportedly prohibited its continued activities.

As the story circulated, LilWin drew public attention after sharing that he had been experiencing persistent body aches upon waking. He suggested the discomfort could be linked to a recently purchased mattress, describing it as unusually firm compared to standard foam products.

Concerned by the developments, the actor later inspected his mattress himself. He was seen cutting open the covering to determine whether it matched the type of products allegedly flagged in the GSA operation.

To his surprise, the internal material appeared to be plastic-like rather than traditional foam, raising further questions in his mind about its composition.

“I have seen a video circulating online where Ghanaian authorities have shut down a company illegally operating in mattress production. The video I saw showed that the mattresses were actually rubber, similar to materials used in packaging new appliances such as televisions.

“After watching the video, I remembered I have been sleeping on a mattress, and every morning I wake up with body aches as though I have been beaten. So I decided to cut my mattress open to check if mine is also among them,” he said.

LilWin went on to urge authorities to tighten oversight on consumer goods, particularly those entering the local market, stressing the potential health risks if substandard products go unchecked.

“Why would you use rubber as foam? I am pleading with the Ghanaian government to be cautious about such products, especially what we consume and use, because they can cause harm,” he stressed.
