A Serious Curse is Haunting Ghana’s Movie Industry and Black Stars – Prophet Kumchacha Alleges

Prophet Kumchacha

Ghana’s movie industry and the Black Stars are not failing for lack of talent or resources, but because of a spiritual affliction. That’s the firm belief of Prophet Nicholas Osei, widely known as Prophet Kumchacha, who has sparked conversation with claims that a powerful curse is undermining both the country’s film industry and the national football team.

During a discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz program, the outspoken preacher said Ghana’s underperformance in these areas is not coincidental but rooted in unseen spiritual forces.

“There is a serious curse hanging over the movie industry and the Black Stars,” he said. “We need quality, not quantity. Even though Nigeria has a larger population than Ghana, that shouldn’t be the reason why our industry is lagging behind.”

According to Kumchacha, the curse is compounded by the negative attitudes festering within the creative sector. He condemned the internal rivalry, envy, and lack of solidarity among Ghanaians, drawing a sharp contrast with what he views as a more supportive and united Nigerian entertainment industry.

To illustrate his point, the prophet cited recent criticisms aimed at Kumawood actor and producer Kojo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, whose high-profile film projects were met with skepticism rather than encouragement.

“When Lilwin brought out his movie A Country Called Ghana, some Ghanaians – including influential media personalities – spoke against it, instead of supporting him,” Kumchacha pointed out. “And now with President Traoré, it’s the same story. Meanwhile, Nigerians would have rallied behind him without hesitation.”

Prophet Kumchacha ended with a call for self-reflection and national healing. He urged Ghanaians to shift away from the destructive cycle of criticism and disunity, arguing that true growth in both sports and entertainment will remain elusive unless unity, support, and spiritual restoration become priorities.
