A senior manager at a Ghanaian manufacturing company has been detained by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) for allegedly trying to export cocaine from the country.
Officials say the suspect, whose identity has not been released, reportedly hid the drugs inside a shipment of packaged gari, a staple made from dried cassava.
He was intercepted at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in a targeted, intelligence-driven operation.
Sources at KIA told Graphic Online that the man oversees production at the company.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full details of the attempted export and to determine if others are involved in the alleged network.
