President Mahama Swears In Kalsoume Sinare as Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain

President Mahama swears in actress Kalsoume Sinare as Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain in a ceremony at Jubilee House.

Ghana’s diplomatic corps has gained a familiar face from the film industry, as President John Dramani Mahama formally inducted actress Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe into office as the country’s Ambassador to Spain.

The swearing-in took place on March 17, 2026, at the Jubilee House, sealing her transition from screen icon to diplomatic representative.

The event drew a mix of political and entertainment figures, including actress Jackie Appiah, Samira Yakubu, Jackie’s son Damien, and Kalsoume’s husband, Anthony Baffoe. The CEO of Afrikiko was also present.

Kalsoume Sinare’s move into diplomacy had been signalled months earlier. On June 21, 2025, her name appeared among 15 nominees in an official list released by the Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama.

That announcement outlined a broader reshuffle across Ghana’s foreign service, covering ambassadorial and high commissioner roles as well as a consul-general designate, all positioned to advance the country’s interests on the global stage.
