Apostle George Newman has ignited a storm online after a video of his comments about single mothers began circulating widely.
The Ghanaian preacher made the remarks during a radio interview that has since been shared across X, where he was asked whether young men should consider marrying single mothers. His response was blunt, casting doubt on the decision and urging caution.
“Unless you’re cursed, I don’t see why you’d go for a single mother.
“If you are a man and you run into a single mother, watch yourself. They will lie to you and tell you that ‘if you love me, love my child’ but where is the father of the child?” he asked.
Although he admitted that not all single mothers share the same story, he argued that some situations are self-inflicted. He noted that while a number of women may have been left by irresponsible partners or lost them, others, in his view, contributed to the breakdown of their relationships.
“Sure, there are some good women who might have gotten involved with the wrong man or the father may be dead. But there are women who intentionally put the man through a lot while the men are simply trying to make ends meet for them.
“That is why they are single in the first place. So, if it were up to me, I will not marry a single mother,” Apostle George Newman stressed.
