MC Yaa Yeboah Raises Alarm Over FBI Arrest Wave and Its Impact on Ghanaian Celebrities’ Travel

Concerns are growing over a wave of arrests tied to alleged romance scams and money laundering cases involving Ghanaian nationals, and media personality MC Yaa Yeboah has now weighed in on the trend, suggesting it is beginning to affect international travel habits among some public figures.

In a post on X dated May 23, 2026, she argued that the steady stream of reported arrests linked to cases involving the FBI and Interpol is creating unease within certain circles of Ghana’s entertainment and public life.

She claimed that the situation has reached a point where some well-known personalities are increasingly hesitant to travel outside the country due to fear of being detained or questioned at foreign entry points. According to her, what may appear to be routine travel avoidance is, in some cases, driven by anxiety linked to ongoing investigations and cross-border enforcement actions.

“Every other week, there’s news about FBI-linked arrests in Ghana. Truth is, some of our favourite personalities can’t comfortably travel abroad. Stop acting clueless. Not everybody avoiding international trips now is ‘too busy’; some are just scared at this point,” she wrote.

She further added that the anxiety extends to how airport procedures are perceived, with some individuals reportedly worried that routine immigration checks could escalate into more intense questioning.

“They are scared airport immigration might turn into an interrogation room… quite worrying,” she added.

Her comments come amid a series of recent arrests involving Ghanaians in connection with alleged cybercrime and fraud investigations coordinated across jurisdictions.

Among those mentioned in various reports are Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North Ohene Kwame Frimpong, who was reportedly arrested in the Netherlands, alongside individuals identified as Abu Trica, Dada Joe, Kofi Boat, Lancaster, Arrangement, and others.

Some of the suspects have reportedly been extradited to the United States, where they are currently facing prosecution.
