Ghanaian actor, Mikki Osei Berko shares emotional story of meeting his father for the first time at 40

Ghanaian actor, Mikki Osei Berko, popularly known as Dada Boat, has opened up about growing up without his father, revealing that he met him for the first time at the age of 40.

Despite his father’s absence, Mikki harbors no resentment, acknowledging that circumstances kept them apart.

“I met my dad for the first time at age 40. I say this not to discredit him because he had his own issues at the time. He is still alive, and we are very close now. We bonded so well after we met,” he shared on GhanaWeb’s Talkertainment show hosted by Elsie Lamar.

Drawing from his experience, he encouraged young people facing similar challenges not to let a parent’s absence define their future. “I say this to encourage the youth who blame their struggles on not having a father or mother around. While it does affect lives, staying focused can help you build a successful future, with or without a parent,” he advised.

Reflecting on the impact of his father’s absence, he admitted it influenced his ability to navigate relationships. “Understanding certain dynamics in relationships is difficult when you haven’t seen them modeled by both parents,” he noted.

He also acknowledged a common belief that children from single-parent homes may face challenges in their own marriages, saying, “When one parent is absent, it becomes very difficult to grasp some of the mechanics of relationships.”

Despite these hurdles, Mikki expressed gratitude for his journey and the lessons learned. “I feel I could have been better if I had both mom and dad. Growing up in a peaceful, loving home shapes you in many ways. I haven’t turned out badly, but I believe I could have been even better with that foundation,” he reflected.
