The government says the official report on the August 6 military helicopter crash that killed eight people, including two cabinet ministers, will be released to the public this week.
Minister of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced in a Facebook post on Sunday, November 9, 2025, that the report would first be submitted to the National Security Council on Monday before its findings are made public at a press briefing on Tuesday.
The tragic accident claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Muniru, NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, NADMO Deputy Director-General Samuel Aboagye, and three crew members.
The Z-9 utility helicopter reportedly vanished from radar on the morning of August 6, 2025, while en route from Accra to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
Following the crash, a 30-day investigation board was established, led by National Security Coordinator Abdul-Osman Razak and supported by technical experts from the U.S. Air Force, to determine the cause of the incident.
Mr. Ofosu described the coming week as “a very important one” for government activities. President John Dramani Mahama is expected to launch the Nkoko Nkitinkiti poultry programme in Kumasi on Wednesday.
The initiative aims to engage about 55,000 households in poultry farming to cut down Ghana’s $300 million annual chicken import bill, which currently covers about 95 percent of national consumption.
Also, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson will present the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025. The budget is expected to focus on job creation, economic recovery, and tax reforms, including a possible reduction of the VAT rate from 22 to 20 percent.
