Being Too Respectful Hurt My Career – Lasmid Admits

Ghanaian artiste Lasmid

Lasmid is taking a hard look at his journey in the music scene and pointing to a decision he now wishes he had handled differently.

In an interview with Bryt TV, the Ghanaian artiste admitted that the extreme level of respect he showed early in his career did him more harm than good. What he once saw as good character, he said, gradually became a weakness others were quick to exploit.

According to Lasmid, his consistent politeness often attracted ridicule and allowed people to cross lines that should never have been crossed.

“I don’t know if I should say it or not, but being too respectful has made people take advantage of me,” he said.

That experience, he acknowledged, has stayed with him and shaped how he approaches relationships today. After noticing that the courtesy he offered was rarely returned, the singer decided it was time to draw boundaries.

“If I had it my way, I would not be that respectful. I wish people would reciprocate the same respect. For now, I respect people who respect me as well. At first, I respected people who failed to give me the same energy,” Lasmid averred.

Below is a video of his statement.
