Abubakari Sadick, widely known as “Cyborg,” has been convicted and fined after firing warning shots from a semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun at a public event in Accra, in what he described as a celebratory gesture for Nigerian music star Asake.
Sadick, 54, pleaded guilty when he appeared before the Adenta Circuit Court on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Following his plea, he was convicted and fined 2000 penalty units, equivalent to GH¢24,000.
In addition, the court ordered the confiscation of the firearm, a DERYA MK-12 bearing the number 22-GHA 1162, and revoked Sadick’s firearm license. He has already paid the full fine, avoiding a potential two-year jail term, Graphic Online reported.
The incident took place on December 28 at the El-Wak Stadium, during a December in GH event, and a video of Sadick discharging the gun quickly circulated online. Authorities acted swiftly: the Criminal Investigation Department announced his arrest on December 30, and he was officially taken into custody in Adenta the following day.
Police confirmed that Sadick was apprehended for both possession and unlawful discharge of a firearm at a public gathering.
The case has reignited discussions about public safety during festive occasions, especially after Sadick claimed that the shots were fired to honor Asake, who had arrived in Ghana days earlier to perform at the AfroFuture Festival.
