Vida Adutwumwaa Defends TGMA Invitation to Hajia4Reall Amid Backlash

Public reaction to Hajia4Reall’s appearance as an award presenter at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards Telecel Ghana Music Awards has drawn a firm response from media personality Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, who has stepped in to defend both the socialite and the organisers behind the decision.

Speaking on social media, she dismissed suggestions that Hajia4Reall orchestrated her own involvement in the ceremony, insisting the move came from the show’s production team and was rooted in editorial intent.

“I do not think Hajia4Reall took herself there. The production had its reasons why it invited her. They probably felt that it would bring news,” she said.

According to her, the booking was shaped by media value and public interest rather than personal lobbying, especially given the attention surrounding Hajia4Reall’s return to public life after her prison sentence.

She noted that despite her release, Hajia4Reall has not yet granted any detailed one-on-one interviews, making any high-profile appearance a rare opportunity for public engagement.

“True, she went to jail and has been released. But no one has been able to get her one-on-one to talk to her after her release from prison. And that is news. People would like to listen to what she has been up to,” Adutwumwaa noted.

She further pointed to ongoing public curiosity around alleged romantic ties involving Hajia4Reall and RNAQ, especially amid speculation linked to his reported divorce, adding that her side of the story has not been fully heard.

Adutwumwaa also revisited Hajia4Reall’s earlier music career, arguing that she was already deeply embedded in the industry long before her legal troubles. She described her as “one of the hardest-working artistes in the country” during that period.

She referenced her 7-track project, noting the investment in production and visuals, as well as collaborations with major names including Stonebwoy, Efya and Shatta Wale.

“She had released a 7-track album. Check out the quality songs in that album; she shot quality videos for every song on that album. Look at the heavy features on that album. She had songs with the likes of Stonebwoy, Efya, Shatta Wale and many others. It wasn’t easy.

“She got herself a studio, a voice coach and people to help her transition from just a socialite to a musician. It wasn’t easy,” Adutwumwaa maintained.

She added that Hajia4Reall’s presence at the TGMA stage should not be viewed as out of place, given her prior involvement in the creative space and ongoing public interest in her journey.

Vida further urged critics to allow Hajia4Reall space to reintegrate into everyday life, stressing that she has already served her punishment and retains her rights as a citizen.

“Allow Hajia4Reall to be. Allow her to function as a normal person and a citizen in the country with her rights. Even as a prisoner, she had rights, how much more as a citizen,” she stated.
