Ghanaian musician Belinda Ekuah Amoah, well known as Mzbel, has opened up about her stance on marriage, saying she has no intention of ever walking down the aisle.
Speaking in an interview with ZionFelix, the singer made it clear that marriage, in her view, offers no real advantage.
She argued that the expectations placed on wives often feel outdated and burdensome, comparing them to a form of “free slavery.”
“I refuse to be that kind of woman. A man must be mad if he expects me to sweep, serve him breakfast, and clean for him. Doesn’t he have a mother? Your mother is supposed to take care of you, so if you are no longer with her, then you have to take care of yourself.
“That’s why marriage is not for me because I cannot do marriage. I see it as free slavery,” she said.
Mzbel also said she would not advise young women to pursue marriage, insisting that her position is based on how she interprets its demands.
“I won’t encourage young ladies to get married because I see it as free slavery. As for me, I will never get married. I am my own boss. I am both the father and the mother. I can be in a relationship, alright, but the moment a man asks me to do those chores, it’s over between us,” she stressed.
