“I Deserve It Too” – King Ayisoba Seeks Diplomatic Passport for Championing Ghanaian Traditions

King Ayisoba

Ghanaian traditional musician, King Ayisoba, has called on authorities to consider him for a diplomatic passport. He said his years of promoting Ghanaian culture across the world merit such national recognition.

During an interview with Kafui Dey, the internationally acclaimed kologo player stated that his work in preserving and performing Ghana’s indigenous music globally places him among those worthy of the honour.

He praised those who have already received diplomatic passports, acknowledging their efforts in showcasing Ghana’s excellence abroad.

“For me, the people who received the diplomatic passports, I cannot say they don’t deserve it. Because Rocky Dawuni has worked hard. It is not easy to be nominated for Grammy so he deserves it.

“But I hope they will also think about me because when it comes to Ghanaian music traditions, if they will be truthful, I’m one of the best,” King Ayisoba said.

His remarks followed the recent presentation of diplomatic passports by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to five Ghanaian creatives recognized for elevating Ghanaian and African culture on the world stage. The honorees included travel vlogger Wode Maya, reggae musician and Grammy nominee Rocky Dawuni, media personality Anita Erskine, visual artist Ibrahim Mahama, and entrepreneur Dentaa Amoateng MBE.
