Ghanaian Journalist Francis Owusu Ansah to Be Laid to Rest on January 31

Veteran journalist Francis Owusu Ansah, widely known as Agama, will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

His final funeral rites are scheduled at Nkwabeng-SNNIT in Sunyani, followed by a thanksgiving service on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).

Agama’s passing was made public on Thursday, October 23, 2025, after a brief illness. Sources close to the family confirmed he died at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital.

The announcement has prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, listeners, and industry peers who remember him as a devoted journalist and seasoned broadcaster whose voice left a lasting mark on radio across the Bono Region and beyond.

Over a career spanning more than 20 years, Owusu Ansah built a reputation for professionalism and versatility. He held key roles at several radio stations, including News Editor and General Manager positions at Shalom FM in Berekum, Storm FM in Sunyani, and Nimde3 FM, also in Sunyani. He also served as Brands Manager for Might FM in Savelugu in the Northern Region.

Before joining Storm FM in 2012, he spent nine years at Space FM in Sunyani, rising to the position of News Editor. Earlier, he briefly hosted a breakfast show at Max FM in Enchi before returning to Sunyani. In addition, he contributed to print media as a correspondent for The Chronicle newspaper in the Bono Region.

Throughout his broadcasting career, Agama showcased his versatility on air. He presented morning and mid-morning shows, hosted lunchtime and drive-time programmes, anchored sports segments, and regularly delivered the news across the stations where he worked.

At the time of his death, he was managing Virgin Kourt Hotel in Sunyani.

Francis Owusu Ansah leaves behind a legacy of dedication to journalism and broadcasting, remembered fondly by colleagues and listeners for his unwavering commitment to the profession.
